You never chase Carmen alone. Across the games and their spin-offs, the ACME Detective Agency fields a small recurring cast on the player's side — the people who hand you the case, sign your paperwork and occasionally save your skin.
Back at headquarters
The Chief runs the agency: the voice that briefs you and reads you in. The role became famous through the PBS show, where Lynne Thigpen played the Chief, and it carried back into the games — a stern, dry boss who turns up to brief and to scold. In the voiced geographic re-releases a warrant clerk named Wanda processes your warrants, and the Crime Net feed pipes the latest word from the underworld.
Out in the field
The younger and later titles added partners. Junior Detective brought in Zack and Ivy from the Fox cartoon and introduced Stretch, ACME's crime-tracking dog. Treasures of Knowledge handed the case to two playable agents: Julia “Jules” Argent, the calm veteran who was once Carmen's partner, and Shadow Hawkins, the gadget-happy rookie.
